Mr. Rhodri Llywelyn Williams is an advanced fellowship trained hip and knee specialist orthopaedic surgeon based at BMI Werndale Hospital and Hywel Dda University NHS Health Board in Wales. 

After qualifying as a doctor from St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London Medical Colleges and finishing his basic surgical training in central London and Cardiff, Mr. Williams successfully completed his higher surgical training on the prestigious University College London Hospital orthopaedic rotation. He was then awarded a British Orthopaedic Association Hip Fellowship and the Advanced Cardiff Knee Fellowship to enhance his skills in hip and knee joint surgery. Mr Williams has an established practice that specialises in all aspects of routine, complex and revision hip and knee joint replacement surgery as well as arthroscopic surgery.

Mr. Williams is committed to clinical research and publishes widely in specialist peer review journals and presents nationally and internationally. (A selection of recent publications can be found on the blog, or a more comprehensive list at Researchgate or  Google Scholar).

In addition to his clinical and research work, Mr. Williams was awarded a Masters degree in Surgical Education (MEd) by Imperial College London and also holds a Postgraduate Certificate (PgC) in Clinical Leadership and Innovation. He is interested in the development of surgical education and is proud to be appointed joint Royal College of Surgeons of England Tutor for Hywel Dda University NHS Health Board as well as being elected as Treasurer of the Welsh Orthopaedic Society.

As a fluent Welsh-speaking Welshman, Mr. Williams has an in-depth understanding of the local culture and feels privileged to be able to communicate with patients sensitively and effectively in either English or Welsh.

With his busy professional career, Mr Williams is glad to have a supportive family. He is married and has three young daughters, who keep him busy. Away from work Mr. Williams is a keen sportsman who enjoys running and skiing as well as supporting rugby.
