Total knee arthroplasty in patients with prior adjacent multi-organism osteomyelitis.

A recent publication by Mr Williams in Acta Orthopaedica Belgica, the official journal of the Belgian Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, highlights that the presence of adjacent osteomyelitis (infection of bone) makes joint replacement challenging. However, despite being a difficult problem to manage, patients care can be optimised through a multi-disciplinary approach and surgery performed by high volume surgeons.
